you sleep like a baby
I lay silent, wide awake and thinking of all these things I want to ask you.
sometimes you hold onto me so tightly in your sleep I literally cannot move.
so I just lay there, your snoring in my ear, your arm under my head the other arm over me. I look at you periodically …still asleep. finally you wake up. a kiss. a smile. I’ve been waiting! I love this part of my day but hate it just the same. hate it because I know the next thing that’s coming is a goodbye as I go to work.
I just wanted to thank you for how beautiful you make me feel even when my hair is big and wild and last nights eyeliner is smudged all over.
